What should I expect during my first session?Think of this session as your therapist getting to know you and you getting to know your therapist. The therapist will spend this time answering any questions you have about the therapy process and practice. Also, the therapist will be gathering history about your presenting problem and begin to collaborate with you about therapeutic goals.

How much will a session cost?It depends, but we are affordable. We offer a slide scale based on the annual income of your household. We are happy to discuss fee adjustments too!

What are telehealth services?Telehealth services include video sessions or phone sessions. Instructions will be provided prior to the first session.

What types of approaches does the therapist use for individual therapy?It depends on each client. The therapist will begin collaborating with the client on therapeutic goals at the start of therapy. Based on the goals, the therapist might use a variety of approaches such as: Person-Centered, Narrative, Mindfulness-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Internal Family Systems.

What types of approaches does the therapist use for children and adolescent therapy?It depends on each client. The therapist will decide her approach based on the client’s age/development and interests. Based on these areas, the therapist might use a variety of approaches such as: Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

What types of approaches does the therapist use for relationship therapy?It depends on the relationship unit. The therapist will begin collaborating with the relationship unit to decide therapeutic goals at the start of therapy. Based on the goals, the therapist might use a variety of approaches such as: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Integrative, and Gottman.

What is sex therapy?Sex therapy is an evidenced-based specialized form of counseling that focuses on the sexual health of an individual and relationships. This encompasses a plethora of topics such as: sexual function, pleasure, intimacy, and reproduction. Sex therapy helps treat those experiencing issues with performance, satisfaction, desire, arousal, or pain with sex. Sex therapy is also a treatment for those with a sexual trauma history, sexual orientation issues, and/or sexual behaviors that are causing distress. ABSOLUTELY NO SEXUAL ACTIVITY OF ANY KIND HAPPENS DURING SEX THERAPY SESSIONS!

What if I do not like the approach my therapist is using?Please tell the therapist! The sessions are about you and your goals! Have a conversation with the therapist and she will listen and adjust!
